Paper Nests

All the dead foliage from Winter has been beautifully dried out this week with the Spring sunshine so I have found myself collecting forest debris with a view to making nests with them and from the cast paper. I had a first go with the foam method and although it isn’t beautiful I do think it has legs. I will look further into Karen Olson’s work and I see she offers a course in natural fibres and paper casting, which might be of interest. I do not anticipate overnight mastery but I do enjoy the playfulness of just having a go with whatever presents itself on my daily dog walks. As I have reflected upon many times, I am enjoying the process based approach to my work currently, which feels far from the angst ridden starting at canvases that seems to have made my work tight and linear. I am slowly seeing a way towards a modular approach to art making, hobbies, making, a state of creative being where there are fewer distinctions between my life and my art.
