Landscape Drawing on Zoom

Tutorials and Landscape Drawing Sessions on Zoom

All drawing sessions are open to anyone from beginners to seasoned artists and lean towards drawing the landscape.

Tutorials are two hours and on an ad hoc basis on a specific theme. These are generally 2 hours of demonstrations and discussions and sometimes some exercises at the end, which you can do live or after watching the tutorial. Tutorials are £35 for two hours and are on Zoom, recorded to catch up on or repeat later. After the live event, recordings are available to purchase for £40 and recordings are available for 3 months.

Landscape Drawing on Zoom sessions are held once a month on a Tuesday evening at 7pm UK time. These are generally 40 minutes of demonstrations s or discussions and 40 minutes of quiet drawing time. Each session is 90 minutes and are £12 and recorded to catch up on later if you can’t make it. After the event recordings are available to purchase for £15. Recordings are available for 3 months.

All welcome. Please read the descriptions carefully before purchasing. Thank you!

Please note: I will send all participants an information sheet on what to expect and the Zoom link around 24 hours before the session. Please keep an eye out and check your spam folder.

Landscape Drawing on Zoom | Quick, Loose Landscapes

Landscape Drawing on Zoom | Quick, loose landscapes
£12.00

In this session on drawing quick, loose landscapes there will be around 40 minutes of discussion and recorded demonstrations and around 40 minutes of quiet drawing exercises that we will do together. I provide images to work from for the exercises but if you have your own photos you would like to use, that’s fine too.

Materials: no specific materials are required and I urge participants to use whatever they have lying around - scrap paper and a pencil is plenty! If you wish to use something more interesting please do and bear in mind we will be working quickly and freely so using materials that don’t require lots of set up or technique would be great, such as charcoal, ink or pen.

Sessions are recorded and you have 3 months to catch up on the session if you can’t join live. For those who are there live there will be an opportunity to ask questions and share work once the recording has stopped. I look forward to seeing you then!

Landscape Drawing on Zoom | Expressive Landscapes

Landscape Drawing on Zoom | Expressive Landscapes
£12.00

In this session on drawing expressive landscapes there will be around 40 minutes of discussion and recorded demonstrations and around 40 minutes of drawing exercises that we will do together. I provide images to work from for the exercises but if you have your own photos you would like to use, that’s fine too.

Materials: no specific materials are required but I would suggest materials that are expressive such as charcoal, ink or anything else you feel helps you loosen up. This will be an experimental session so feel free to bring anything you’ve not tried before or combinations of materials that are new to you. We are focussing on enjoying ourselves rather than making perfect drawings! Bring along whatever you have and you can always try out new techniques after the session if you don’t have them to hand.

Sessions are recorded and you have 3 months to catch up on the session if you can’t join live. For those who are there live there will be an opportunity to ask questions and share work once the recording has stopped. I look forward to seeing you then!

Tutorial | Mark Making Part 1 - Dry Media

Tutorial | Mark Making Part 1 - Dry Media
£35.00

In this 2 hour tutorial on mark making within the landscape it will be mostly a discussion of approaching creative mark making using dry media with several recorded demonstrations using a range of materials and approaches. I will be showing you how I use traditional art materials and non-traditional materials to create a wide range of marks for using when drawing the landscape. The aim of the session is to liberate ourselves to try new things, let go and enjoy making marks rather than worrying too much about perfect drawings at the end. There will be some guided exercises with images for you to do at the end either live or afterwards and you are invited to draw along if you wish to.

Materials: if you would like to draw along you can and I would suggest whatever you have lying around. You can watch the tutorial and then decide where you want to spend your time and money.

Tutorials are recorded and you have 3 months to catch up on the session if you can’t join live. For those who are there live there will be an opportunity to ask questions and share work once the recording has stopped. I look forward to seeing you then!

In this 2 hour tutorial on mark making within the landscape it will be mostly a discussion of approaching creative mark making using wet (and some dry) media with several recorded demonstrations using a range of materials and approaches. Landscape Drawing on Zoom | Coastal Landscapes
£12.00

In this session on drawing coastal landscapes there will be around 40 minutes of discussion and recorded demonstrations and around 40 minutes of drawing exercises that we will do together. I provide images to work from for the exercises but if you have your own photos you would like to use, that’s fine too.

Materials: no specific materials are required and I urge participants to use whatever they have lying around. We will consider transitions where water and land meet, which can be different depending on where we live. Think about colours you associate with coastal areas near you, or coastlines of your memory and imagination. Aim for a few materials that could speak to coastal landscapes: perhaps pencil, ink, charcoal or coloured dry materials such as pencils, pastels or anything else you have.

Sessions are recorded and you have 3 months to catch up on the session if you can’t join live. For those who are there live there will be an opportunity to ask questions and share work once the recording has stopped. I look forward to seeing you then!
