Beeswax casting

Trying to take the cabbage printing further with the contents of the compost bin and pressing the contents of the bin into hot beeswax. I am then casting them with paper and painting them with indigo paint. The indigo isn’t really fitting in terms of materials but one step at a time. This feels like a win and the paper has been an uphill battle so I am just happy this is working out. I will make some more compost ink and have a go with that, which feels more fitting although the indigo speaks so strongly to grief. Each offers something I think. Roz’s method of using less water has also massively helped, meaning the paper isn’t staying wet for so ridiculously long.

I will have another go with other types of leaves and I particularly love the cabbage leaf - I will buy some more beeswax and cast them. The main issue is the negative print, which makes for a concave shape in the casting, which may be mitigated by cutting the leaf so it lies flat. Below is another go at the fungal spore cast, which I wanted to take the form of a ring this time.
