Under the Microscope

I have been collecting ideas, visuals and thought responses to mycelium and its function within the compost heap. We have had an old microscope floating around for years, a present for the children I think. I am wondering about putting the mycelium under the microscope as a way to view, draw and understand it. I googled fungal microsocopy and the visuals are amazing.

I can’t seem to get the damn thing to work though, Tom has been helping with basics but I can’t really see much even with the sample slides the microscope came with. I am half wondering about buying a basic one, as I think it could be a really interesting way of drawing the compost heap and reflecting on those things we discard, understanding and repurposing in a way.
