Christmas Break
Mostly the Christmas break has been just that, but I have kept a pile of old paintings and drawings on paper in the kitchen and have been pulling them apart and exploring ruination of these old landscapes. I have also had some time spent in the studio revisiting some older canvases and they seem to be emerging in a similar vein.
Indigo pigment, paint and bleach on paper and canvas. Each around 30x40cm.
A brief reminder on the Reflective Practice Jonathan has encouraged from the beginning of the MA.
I am a bit disjointed in my practice currently so as part of my reflective practice I am reviewing my handwritten notes from Thursday sessions to help me get back on track.
“Reflection is not what you have done, it is about who you are when you are doing it”
Reflection attempts to encapsulate change: when did that change take place, what was the pivotal moment, when did it start to occur, when did it speed up or slow down?
Double Reflection - describe what you’ve done and a day or two later describe how it felt
“it is one thing to travel but it is a wholly different thing to know where you have been and where you are going”
The reflective cycle is not always a neat cycle.

Questions to ask myself 1. what questions does this raise? 2. what are the challenges and opportunities? 3. what would be useful to explore more?
